Getting Started
How do I get started with PodPDF?
Sign up at app.podpdf.com with Google or email: every new account starts on the Free plan with 10 free PDFs and no card needed. Use the web app to convert, edit, merge and split files straight away, or create an API key and integrate PDF generation into your own applications. When you need more, pick a monthly plan — or buy a one-off credit pack — from the Plans & Credits page. A monthly plan works out at $0.005 per PDF, and one-off packs at $0.01.
Do I need coding skills to use PodPDF?
Not at all! Our visual web application has a drag-and-drop interface that anyone can use—no coding required. However, we also offer a powerful API for developers who want to automate PDF generation or integrate it into their applications.
What file formats can I convert to PDF?
PodPDF supports four input formats: HTML (with full CSS styling), Markdown (GitHub-flavored with tables and code blocks), Images (PNG and JPEG), and public HTTPS URLs. Bulk conversion also takes a ZIP of HTML or Markdown files. You can convert these using either our web app or API.
Can I convert many files at once?
Yes. Bulk conversion takes a ZIP of HTML or Markdown files — or files sent inline — and returns one ZIP containing a PDF per file plus a manifest with per-file results. One job covers up to 200 pages across up to 200 files, from a ZIP of up to 50 MB. Relative CSS, images, and fonts keep working, so a folder converts exactly as it looks.

How does pricing work?
Every account starts with 10 free PDFs. After that, monthly plans give you a fixed allowance at $0.005 per PDF (Starter $20 for 4,000 PDFs, Business $100 for 20,000 PDFs) and can be cancelled anytime. One-off credit packs are there as well, at $0.01 per PDF — they start at $10 for 1,000 PDFs and never expire. The price is the same in the web app and the API. Can I use both the web app and API?
Yes. Both are included and draw on the same balance, so you can switch between them whenever it suits the job.
Do credits expire?
A subscription allowance resets on each monthly renewal and does not roll over. One-off credits are different: they never expire and stay in your account until you use them.
How do the monthly plans work?
Pick a plan from the pricing page or from Plans & Credits in your dashboard, and you get a fixed PDF allowance each month at $0.005 per PDF. The allowance resets on each renewal and unused PDFs do not roll over. Upgrades take effect immediately with a prorated charge, downgrades at the next renewal, and cancelling stops the renewal at the end of the period you have paid for.
Can I buy PDFs without subscribing?
Yes. One-off credit packs start at $10 for 1,000 PDFs, at $0.01 per PDF. A pack is a single payment: nothing renews and the credits never expire. On a plan, credits also cover any PDFs beyond your monthly allowance.
Can I get an invoice or a purchase order?
Yes, on request. Invoicing (NET-30), purchase orders and volume pricing are arranged directly — email support@podpdf.com and tell us what the finance side has to look like.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes. You can request a refund within 14 days of a payment, whether it is a subscription payment or a credit pack, by emailing support@podpdf.com. The details are in section 4.9 of our Terms of Service.
Technical
Are there any rate limits?
The Free plan allows 20 requests a minute. Paid accounts have no per-account rate limit, in the API or the web app. Very high request rates are still throttled at the platform level, and bulk conversion allows 2 jobs running at once per account.
How long does PDF generation take?
Instant conversions finish in under 30 seconds, and simple documents are typically ready in a few seconds. Larger documents and bulk jobs run asynchronously — you poll the job or receive a webhook when it finishes.
What are the size limits?
Content is limited to 5 MB per request. Images can be up to 5 MB each, 10 MB per request, and 10,000 x 10,000 pixels. Instant conversions produce up to 25 pages and async jobs up to 100. A bulk job covers up to 200 pages across all its files, from a ZIP of up to 50 MB.
What happens if some files in a bulk job fail?
The job finishes with the status partial_failed. Every file that converted is in the output ZIP, and the manifest lists the reason for each file that failed or was skipped — for example a file over the size limit, or files skipped once the job reached its page budget. You are only charged for the PDFs that were produced.
How do webhooks work?
Webhooks allow you to receive real-time notifications when long-running PDF jobs complete. Configure a webhook URL in your settings, and we'll send a POST request with the job status and download link when ready.
Account & Security
How do I create an API key?
Log in to your dashboard, navigate to Settings → API Keys, and click "Create New API Key". Give it a name and copy the key immediately—you won't be able to see it again. Store it securely.
Is my data secure?
Yes! PodPDF is built on AWS infrastructure with industry-standard encryption. Your content is processed securely and stored temporarily (30 days). We never read, analyze, or share your data.
How long are PDFs stored?
Generated PDFs are kept for 30 days and then deleted automatically. Download links are valid for 1 hour, and you can request a fresh link at any time while the file still exists. Your job records stay in your dashboard.
